Knowing exactly what’s protected helps you prepare for data loss, store migrations, and disaster recovery. BackupMaster covers the core business data that keeps your Shopify store running — products, customers, orders, themes, and more. The following table shows every data type BackupMaster backs up and whether you can restore or clone it.

Supported data types

Products include title, description, vendor, status, product category, tags, product type, template suffix, SEO title, SEO description, handle, images (media), options, product metafields, and variants. Variants include image, title, price, compare-at price, cost per item, weight, SKU, barcode, inventory tracking, and variant metafields. Collections include their manually added products and their automated rules. Shopify now allows both in the same collection, and BackupMaster backs up, restores, and clones them together.
Shopify merged smart (automated) and custom (manual) collections into a single collection type. BackupMaster now stores every collection under Collections. Versions previously kept under Smart Collections and Custom Collections are preserved there.
Inventory restores and transfers work through a CSV file: download the backed-up quantities from the Inventory category and import them with Shopify’s built-in inventory import. See Restore Shopify inventory. Orders are backed up and can be exported for reporting and record-keeping. Shopify limits updates to existing orders, so BackupMaster doesn’t support restoring or cloning orders. BackupMaster automatically backs up metafields attached to products, variants, collections, blogs, blog posts, and pages. Metafields for orders and customers can be included on request — contact support@backupmaster.io to turn them on.

Unsupported data types

The following items aren’t currently backed up. Some are inaccessible because of Shopify API limitations, others are managed by third-party services, and some haven’t been prioritized yet. This list changes over time as coverage expands.

Third-party page builder apps

Page builder apps like PageFly, Shogun, and GemPages have partial coverage. BackupMaster can back up data these apps store through Shopify’s native data structures (such as pages, metafields, and themes), but data stored in the app’s own external systems isn’t included. Contact the page builder’s support team to confirm where your content is stored.

BackupMaster’s list of supported data types keeps expanding. If you need coverage for a data type that isn’t listed here, let us know at support@backupmaster.io. Requests are prioritized based on customer demand and platform API availability.
